All Saints Episcopal Church

Share a story

All Saints' has a long history in the Panhandle/South Plains, going back to 1885. A Church, originally called Grace Mission, was completed in September of 1885. By June 20th of 1886, the mission had been consecrated as All Saints' Church. By 1888, the church was thriving and was given permission to become a parish, but the loaction of the rail lines in the area diverted business away from Colorado City and damaged its business prospects.

In 1900, a vicarage was built on site, and due to the economic downturn, and the fact that some parishioners lived 50-100 miles away, the church returned to mission status. In 1926, the church was stuccoed, and oak floor put in, and a beautiful new altar was consecrated. The mission has continued to serve Episcopalians in the area.

Since the 1980's, the mission has been served by several vicars - the Rev. Monte Jones, the Rev. Frank Swindle, and the Rev. Dennis Bosley. At this time the mission is served by their Vicar, the Rev. Jared Houze, who also serves the mission in Sweetwater.

Career Services and Education

All Saints Episcopal School is committed to providing a classical education for the whole child, recognizing that each has different gifts, talents, and abilities, while challenging the mind and body and nurturing the spirit. All children who come to us will develop a foundation of academic skills, spiritual awareness, and self-worth that enables them to become intellectual and social contributors to the world.

To help students develop into moral, religious, intellectual, and social contributors to their world, we ask that the following become part of their lives:

-Show respect for God and your country.

-Treat others as you want to be treated.

-Have pride in yourself, your family, and your school.

-Develop a love of learning to last a lifetime.

-Actively participate in chapel service.

-Help younger students.

-Do not tease others.

-Take part in community service.

-Do not litter.

-Say “Please” and “Thank you.”

-Greet others when you meet them.

-Appreciate the blessing of your life.
