What we have been . . .

St. Luke's Church has been a community of prayer and ministry in Woodland for over 140 years. Since 1871, the people of St. Luke's Church have striven to worship in a manner that brings glory to God. We have been blessed with a beautiful and spacious facility in which to worship, learn, enjoy fellowship and reach out to the community, the nation and the world. In 1965 we opened St. Luke's Nursery School, a preschool that has nurtured thousands of children in the communities of Yolo County.

Who we are . . .

We are a Christian community in the Episcopal tradition that seeks to draw and nourish people with a yearning to know God.

We are part of the Episcopal Church in the United States and part of the 73 million Christians in thirty-eight countries that make up the world-wide Anglican Communion. Our expression of Christianity celebrates unity in diversity, responsible freedom in the context of faithful obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As a worshiping community, we follow the practice of early Christians through emphasis on regular breaking of the Bread of Life and sharing the Cup of Salvation as we gather for worship on Sundays and during the week.

As a loving community, we desire to provide support of members who in daily life are attempting to grow into the reflection of our Lord. We try to be sensitive to the needs of newcomers as well as long time members.

As a teaching community, we try to offer classes and groups for the spiritual nourishment of all ages. Through a variety of groups and classes, we support one another in our common life to grow and delight in our life in Christ.

As an evangelistic community, we try to bring the Good News of God's saving acts to others. Through reaching out to people in need and through hosting classes that provide information about the Christian faith, we hope to spread Good News. All are welcome. All are invited to share with us as we grow in our love of God and faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What we hope for you . . .

As loved people of God, we attempt to live our lives together, share our dreams together and share our personal skills and resources in order to reach out with the love our Savior has given us.

We invite you to visit us on Sunday or during the week. We encourage you to ask questions and participate in all aspects of life at St. Luke's Church. We hope you will experience God's love in this place.
