Community Lunch
The Community Lunch serves a free hot meal to our walk-in guests every Thursday 11:30 to 12:30 drive thru and 12:30 to 1:30 PM inside at the parish hall at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church. The Community Lunch mission is simple: to provide a healthy, appetizing meal at no cost to all who come to us hungry. We also provide a place of hospitality and fellowship for everyone. We welcome all, regardless of race, sex, age, national origin, religious preference, handicap, or income. The Community Lunch is a true ecumenical effort, a ministry that draws dedicated volunteers and food donations from the Chatham County community. The Community Lunch is staffed by caring and loving volunteers inspired by the Gospel mandate to feed the hungry, give chink to the thirsty, and welcome the stranger.
Our goal is to serve a hot, healthy, nutritious, and tasty lunch. We appreciate donations of fresh meats and vegetables. Many local gardeners and farmers grow a row for us! Do you like to cook? Or like to help out in the kitchen? We have an ongoing need for kitchen volunteers. We rely totally on the generosity of individuals, churches, and local businesses for our funding. We gladly accept and appreciate any and all donations.
“…for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me…" ~ Matthew 25:35
