Welcome to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (Castleton) on Staten Island. Established in 1848, we treasure our traditions while meeting today with grace.  We are a parish in the Episcopal Church, which is a province of the Anglican Communion.

We are a fully welcoming community valuing Scripture, tradition, liturgy, and Christian formation.   We serve one Lord, Jesus Christ.  Worship is centered in the Holy Eucharist, using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.

Our 8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist (Rite I) is a simple and intimate service in which our congregants are nourished in the Body and Blood of Christ and immersed in the Word.

Our principal service is the 10:00 a.m. Choral Eucharist (Rite II).  The service is supported by a choir and lay leaders in varying roles including, acolytes, readers, and ushers.  Our active Sunday school meets from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., then joins the congregation for the remainder of the service.

We invite you to join the community of St. Mary’s!

Sunday School

Faith Formation

Sunday School begins each Sunday at 10:00 am in the parish hall.

Our Sunday School program is growing, and we are pushing for a more child- and family-friendly environment. We create an inviting and safe environment for children where they may participate in programs designed to increase their knowledge and love of God and Jesus Christ, their church home and parish family.

The program is taught each week on Sunday from 10:00 A.M to 10:45 A.M.  The lessons are formulated from the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, and Lesson Plans That Work.

Each week there is a Lesson, Activity, and often Video and Music!

The children learn stories and lessons from the Sacred Scripture and celebrate the Holidays.

Meal Programs

The St. Mary’s Food Pantry is available on the first Saturday of the month from 11:00 am to noon.  Our pantry provides healthy shelf stable foods, fresh produce, eggs, and pet food.

The St. Mary’s volunteer base includes a core group of parishioners, extended family members and community members including high school students.  We are blessed to have support from our sister churches.  The Church of St. Andrew and their ten plus volunteers assist us on the Friday before distribution to pack food bags and on the Saturday for the food distribution.  We also have volunteers from Church of the Ascension, and we occasionally receive food donations from Christ Church.  To thank our volunteers, in the spring, St. Mary’s had lunch for all the volunteers following the pantry distribution.

If you are interested in volunteering or are a local business that would like to make a financial or material donation, please contact us. We are in need of donations of food for our pantry.
