Christ Episcopal Church

Share a story

Christ Church, founded in 1856, is orthodox in belief, traditional in worship with rich ceremonial, liturgical music and a strong program of Christian education for both adults and children.

We often have families with up to four generations who come to worship on Sunday mornings, but we also open our doors to newcomers! We welcome you to join our warm and caring parish family.

GREATER WOODBURY COOPERATIVE MINISTRIES

Donation Coordination/Distribution
Food Pantries

The GWCM is a consortium of local churches, including Christ Church, which contribute both food and outreach financial support to operate two food banks: one housed at the Woodbury Friends Meeting and another at the Colonial Manor Methodist Church. What can you do? A weekly contribution of just one food item by each parish family would be a wonderful start. Your contributions reduce the amount of food that must be purchased. In addition, your stewardship pledge allows Christ Church to budget funds for this important outreach.

PROJECT LINUS

Donation Coordination/Distribution

Attention all knitters, crocheters, and quilters! The ECW Trinity Guild will be organizing an ongoing project with the non-profit organization called Project Linus. Project Linus was started to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers”. We would love your participation in this project. If you enjoy knitting and/or crocheting, we will be collecting blankets of all sizes (please keep in mind the children range in age from 0-18 years and because many of the children are ill and in hospitals, the organization requires that the blankets come from a smoke free environment).

CROP WALK

Food Pantries

The Greater Woodbury CROP Walk (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) is a six-mile walk to raise money for hunger. The CROP Walk takes place on the first Sunday in May. Christ Church just completed its fifth year of participation!

More and more in today’s economy, people are experiencing hard times. You can make a difference!! The donations collected from the walk go to the Church World Service, to support hunger relief programs world-wide. Our local food bank, the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries receives 25% of the funds collected.

MISSION AT CHRIST CHURCH

Mission Trips and Partnerships

Would you like to belong to Mission to help churches in our local area, other churches in the U.S. or perhaps with churches outside of the U.S.?  We would love to have you join our Ministry of Mission.  There are no specific meeting times—when an opportunity arises where Mission might be able to help out, we lend our support.
