The Red Door Jubilee Center Food Pantry is open on Mondays from 10 – 11 a.m., and on Thursdays from 10 – 11:30 a.m. We could always use more volunteers to help serve our hungry neighbors in downtown Cape Girardeau. Additionally, we host a large community supper on the last Sunday of each month at 4:30 p.m., and we need volunteers to sign up to prepare and serve those meals.

Jubilee

In January 2018, Christ Episcopal Church was commissioned by the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri as the Red Door Ministries Jubilee Center. To be granted the designation Christ Episcopal Church, its congregants and network, were required to display a ministry of joint discipleship in Christ. Jubilee Centers do so much within the community "to meet basic human needs and to build a just society." It is in the spirit of the Gospel of Matthew that Jubilee Centers, including Red Door, strive to provide food for the hungry, drink for the thirsty, welcome for the stranger, clothing for the naked, healing for the sick, and companionship for the captive.

RECOVERY AT THE RED DOOR

Recovery

Our parish is deeply committed to supporting the work of addiction recovery in our community. Though every one of these groups is independent and unaffiliated with the parish, we enjoy warm and cordial relations. At the present time there are over a dozen different groups, open as well as closed, that utilize our facilities for their meetings. This allows our parish to support the work of recovery in a meaningful way.

Here are the meeting times and places for groups that are open to anyone in need of support.

LGBTQ+ OUTREACH

Faith Formation
LGBTQ+

This ministry continues to grow as the needs of the LGBTQA+ community in the region become more evident.

There are programs directly linked to the church as well as others that are supported through the church's open and inclusive environment. Journey and Safe Space Cape are direct components of the church's LGBTQA+ outreach. Both seek to provide safe, supportive environments for LGBTQA+ and affirming persons.  Journey focuses on supporting individuals as they come to understand their relationship with God as a LGBTQA+ person.

Safe Space Cape is for young persons, elementary through upper teen years. Safe Space offers young people a judgement free area where they can explore who they are as an individual and express themselves in whatever manner feels right. Other LGBTQA+ centered groups within the community utilize space for meetings as well as special events.

Interfaith

Red Door has taken a hands-on approach to creating Interfaith dialogue throughout the community; we have helped organize as well as hosted several events in the community to increase understanding and build alliances across faith groups. Since hosting the first Interfaith Dinner in 2017, we have continued to engage in activities to unite people of differing faiths toward the common goals of building a loving and kind society and fostering understanding of the differences that make our society a better place.
