St. Michael's Episcopal Church

Share a story

Since 1956, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church has provided spiritual sustenance and a path for those who wish to continue their spiritual journey in the Episcopal tradition. Today’s mission, “to nourish God’s people that Christ be known” reflects our commitment to serve all of God’s people with open and caring arms. Our “growing edge” is a commitment to be “the green jewel in the midst of the concrete jungle.” We are proud of our service to Lansing’s south side and beyond, through our history of social justice, outreach and community engagement. We invite you to join us.

Advocacy

The advocacy group works on issues of social justice and community service.  We regularly meet with our state representatives to encourage and support legislation and laws which will help all the children of God live fuller and more powerful lives.  We support Hustle 2.0, End Gun Violence MI, and the Michigan Interfaith Coalition, among other groups and causes.  Join us!

Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles

Racial Reconciliation

Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
