St. John’s Havre de Grace

Share a story

St. John's Episcopal Church resides in the oldest church in Harford County, built in 1802, sacked and partially burned in 1813 and then rebuilt and renovated in 1831. Since then, three additional buildings have been added, the Parish Hall (with a renovated kitchen in 2022), the administration building, and the rectory. In 2015, the church sanctuary was renovated to its current splendor. Despite our small size, these renovations were accomplished through the support of the people. We have an active food pantry, a ministry to the LGBTQ+ community, and special services for silence and sharing. All are welcome.

Food Pantries

St. John’s Cupboard feeds over 100 families each week. The Cupboard has been providing meals and groceries every Friday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM for over 7 years. The Cupboard is an approved and certified Food Pantry. Grants from the Federal and State governments, the Maryland Food Bank, and local community donations provide food.

If you would like your business to be a sponsor or volunteer on a monthly, biweekly, or weekly basis, please contact Sheila McCutcheon CupboardStJohns114@gmail.com.

We are grateful for the volunteers who helped make St. John’s Cupboard a success. A special thanks to Lori Gengenbach for taking the picture, and all her hard work to ensure the pantry is fully stocked for our community. Lori works very hard every week to ensure local Havre de Grace families have access to meals.

Children and Youth Ministries

Join our Children's Ministries Sundays at 9:30 am in the St. John's Parish Hall.

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to get your children and family excited about church? Look no further than St. Johns Episcopal Church in Havre de Grace! We are excited to offer Children's Program and Crafts every Sunday, starting at 9:30 am and running until the end of the service.

Our children's program is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn about God's love in a fun and interactive way. Our experienced teachers will engage your child in age-appropriate activities that will help them grow in their faith and understanding of the world around them.

And, of course, we know that children love to be creative! That's why we also offer crafts every Sunday. From painting to drawing to creating fun projects, your child will have a blast expressing themselves and developing their artistic skills.

So, whether you are new to St. John's or have been attending for years, we invite you to bring your children and join us for the Children's Program and Crafts each Sunday. It's a great way to get your kids excited about church and connect with other families in our community. We welcome all, no mater your family size or makeup. We can't wait to see you there.
