Welcome to St. Augustine by-the-Sea
We are a loving, open and socially-engaged community focused on celebration, support and connection with each other and with God. While we have been known as a church on the forefront of social change, our faith is grounded in practicing Jesus’ teachings to love one another as he loves us, and in challenging each other to follow Christ.
We believe that everyone is loved by God, no exceptions.

Ministries
St. Augustine's Chamber Singers
St. Augustine's Chamber Singers lead music during worship and offer concerts each year. The worship repertoire is broad, from the Anglican canon on though gospel and contemporary compositions. The music program also presents a range of performances by local and touring artists, from bluegrass to opera, sacred music to spoken word, and more.
Nursery, Sunday School & Youth Group
Sunday School: Hands-on activities and vivid story-telling connect kids with the Bible and each other as they journey through God’s Word and world. The children reconnect with their families in church for communion.
Onsite nursery is available from 8am through noon
Youth Group: Gathers monthly for spiritual formation and service activities.
Bible study, classes, EfM and adult forums
We offer bible study on Wednesday mornings, Sunday Forums between services, EfM (Education for Ministry), and a broad range of evening classes during the year.
Women+ Gatherings
Women, and all who identify as women, gather monthly for dinner and discussions or activities led by women+ of the parish community. And they host an annual retreat for women+ on a spiritual theme led by guest retreat leaders.
Meals for Home-y Made Meals
We regularly cook dozens for Home-y Made Meals, a local organization delivering boxed/bagged meals to people who are unhoused.
Sanctuary Parish
In keeping with the Diocese of Los Angeles' resolution to be a sanctuary diocese, St. Augustine's has resolved to be a sanctuary parish with open hearts to serving immigrants and refugees.
Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE)
Our parish joins clergy and lay leaders of all faiths to actively support low-wage workers in their struggles for justice. Together we help workers and their families in their battles for good jobs and dignity in the workplace.
Westside Food Bank
St. Augustine's has been supplying our regional food bank on a weekly basis with items donated on Sundays.
