Share a story

St. Stephen’s Church is an Episcopal church within the Diocese of Long Island, in New York State.

We are conveniently located on Main Street, between South Washington Street and Carlton Ave (across from the Port Washington Public Library and next to the Landmark Building).

We have been a worshiping presence in the heart of Port Washington since 1891.

We are made up of our members, and we come together to know Christ, and make Him known.

Sunday School and Youth Group

Faith Formation

The dedicated Sunday School teachers are here to encourage, entertain, and most of all, educate your children to grow and to develop their faith.

Your children, from nursery through 9th grade, will be placed in the appropriate classes during the 10am Sunday service.  They will have a great time with chapel, music, plays, crafts, and other fun activities throughout the year.

We also have a Youth Group for teens. We bring the bible to life through our learning, social and volunteer activities.

Both the Sunday School and Youth Group participate in various outreach and fundraising projects throughout the year, such as collecting food for Our Lady of Fatima food pantry, baking and collecting POPTABS to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, collecting school supplies and backpacks for Long Island Cares, cleaning up local beaches and parks for Earth Day, and many more fun activities.

The School will also prepare children for First Communion and Confirmation as desired.

St. Stephen's Consignment Shop

Community Center
Consignment Shop

The mission of the St. Stephen’s Consignment Shop is “Good deals…Good works.”

The Shop takes in donation of clothing and housewares for sale on consignment or thrift from the community and parishioners. It’s a convenient way to re-purpose gently used clothes and housewares, while helping the community and the church.

The Shop is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am-4pm.  Individuals wishing to bring items for consignment must make an appointment to meet with the Shop staff to go through the items.  The Shop may be reached at (516) 944-8829.

The Shop is staffed by the Shop Manager, Caren Salkin, and 2 part-time associates and volunteers.  They are always looking for more volunteers to help out, so if you can spare a few hours on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday from 10 to 4, please stop by the shop and speak to the staff or email Caren at shop@ststephenspw.org.
