St. John's Episcopal Church

Share a story

Situated in the midst of a peaceful, wooded lot on Main Street in Murray, KY, St. John’s has become home to a diverse community of Christians.  Though we come from all walks of life, we are drawn together by our belief that God loves everyone, no exceptions.  We share the love that God has shown us through Christ Jesus in many ways, both within our community and with the world around us.

Our life at St. John’s is grounded and nourished by our worship of God.  On Sundays we gather to celebrate the saving love of God and to share in the presence of Jesus Christ in our midst.  Look out at the people who participate in this worship and you’ll see some dressed up and others dressed casually; you’ll see couples, families and single people; people of all ages.  As different as we look on the surface, our prayers to God, drawn primarily from The Book of Common Prayer,  unite us in worship.

Though worship is the source of our strength and our community, it is only the beginning of our life of discipleship.  At part of the St. John’s community, we strive week by week to be the hands of Christ to the world around us.  We continue to share the love of God the other six days of the week by finding ways to serve others in Jesus’ name.  Whether we are coming together to put together bags of food for our local Backpack Program, meeting up at a laundromat to offer free laundry to our neighbors, or bringing church to one of our region’s prisons, we try to put our love into action.

While this is just a snapshot of our community, we encourage to learn more.  Look around the website to find out about our ministries for children, get more details about our worship life, or, if you learn best by doing, join us for worship either on Sunday or throughout the week.  However and whenever you decide to join us, know that you will be welcomed!
