Church of the Atonement

The Church of the Atonement is the oldest church in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.
It is a summer Episcopal mission that serves residents as well as vacationers.
Whatever your denomination, we welcome you and your family,
whether for just one Sunday or an entire season.

Providing a traditional & friendly Episcopal worship service
in a beautiful Door County setting is the primary mission of the church.

The Church of the Atonement does not have a rector. Each summer visiting 
Episcopal bishops & priests hold services while enjoying short vacations. 

A coffee hour follows each early service (8am or 9am on single service Sundays)
and precedes the late service (10am on Sundays with two services).
Visitors are most welcome to attend and meet regular members, other guests, and the visiting clergy.

The Church of the Atonement is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
It started with the unfinished home of fisherman Charles Gesler, 
purchased by the Diocese of Fond du Lac for $125.
Bishop John Henry Hobart Brown conducted the first service on August 12, 1877. 
The Church originally had year-round services and in winter
the seating capacity fell from 85 to 65 to make room for a wood stove.
