Traditions, a sense of history and most important, faith in God, can give us a sense of comfort and stability—especially in a world that appears to be less stable each and every day.
At St Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, we are proud of our traditions and history as one of the oldest Episcopal parishes on the Eastern Shore. The beauty of St Mary Anne’s Church surrounds us as we hear the comforting and reassuring words of the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached from our pulpit. Traditional hymns that have touched the hearts of our forefathers, such as “Amazing Grace” and “Blessed Assurance”, are sung with heartfelt emotion from the parishioners. Our liturgy, from The Book of Common Prayer, is a sacred gift of prayer and worship to God, and grounds us in our faith.
We firmly believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of hope and comfort for all—a message that is essential and relevant for our modern and chaotic lives. We also derive comfort from traditional worship in a historic church. St Mary Anne’s, though, is more than a historic building–it is filled with people who will learn your name and care about you—and the community. Our faith, traditions, and people can give you the comfort and stability you desire.

Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles
Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.
Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
