Trinity Church

Share a story

Trinity is an open and welcoming Church with a big heart. Established in 1849, Trinity is the oldest, continuously operating Church in Aurora. The Church was completed in 1871.  We celebrate and welcome diversity--both among ourselves and in the world we live in. We range in age from newborn to over 90, with an average age around 38. A few of us have attended Trinity since childhood, and have raised our own children here. Many others are new to the city or the neighborhood and are beginning to feel at home at Trinity. Many of us come from Aurora, but several of us are known to travel, we have members who join us from St. Charles, Naperville, Oswego, Plainfield, and Leland. We welcome all baptized people to share in the sacrament of Holy Communion. For those who wish to know more about the Episcopal Faith, we offer periodic Inquirer's Classes. Over the past five years, we have welcomed a number of young, single people as well as families with young children and, simultaneously, many empty-nesters.

Trinity welcomes all baptized individuals to participate in Holy Eucharist and receive the body and blood of Christ.

Meal Programs

Every Thursday, 52 weeks per year Trinity hosts the Sandwich Board, a combination of a service of Holy Communion and a hot, nutritious meal. The Sandwich Board is a collaboration of 8 Episcopal Churches from all over the Western Suburbs: Each Church hosts the meal either on a monthly or every other month basis. The Churches involved are: Trinity Episcopal Church, Aurora; St. David, Aurora; St. John, Naperville; St. Barnabas, Glen Ellyn; St. Andrew, Downers Grove; St. Mark, Geneva; Grace, Hinsdale; and St. Charles, St. Charles. The service of Holy Communion is presided over by the Priest from the hosting Church.

On March 4th, 2010, the sandwich Board celebrated 25 years of service to Aurora's people in need. The Sandwich Board got its name from the early months in Lent in 1985 when the meal consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. From five sandwiches that first week, it has grown to the point where we are averaging over 150 meals per week this year. During 2012 over 7,621 meals were provided.

For many of those attending the Soup Kitchen, this is their Home Church, a place where they can come and worship where they know they will be respected and accepted. For others, it is a place where they can get at least one hearty meal per week that they can relish and share with their friends. People attending Sandwich Board are a diverse group of individuals; individuals hurt by the weak economy, individuals down on their luck, families that have been evicted when their homes were foreclosed, people living on the street, people of every culture, people searching for a job, a place to live, a friend; people praying for their families, for our country, for our troops and for a better way of life.

On February 9th, 2014, Deacon John preached about his first experience attending the Sandwich Board. A copy of that sermon can be accessed by Clicking here. Or here for a PDF File

Amnesty Center

Immigration Services

For the last 25 years, Trinity has been assisting those people who are eligible for immigration with their path toward citizenship.  We are privileged to help people on their journey to permanent residence and ultimately citizenship. Quickly approaching our 26th year we have assisted over 1,000 people in acquiring Citizenship! We also assist people in getting fingerprints, updating work permits and permanent resident cards. While we are not lawyers, we have 25+ years of experience and know all the rules. All inquiries are confidential.  Donations are always welcome and appreciated.
