St. Mark's Episcopal Church was founded in 1823 in Lewistown, PA - "The Crossroads of the Commonwealth". At the confluence of historical transportation routes dating back to Native American trading routes, Lewistown is the county seat of Miflin County. The borough is the principal economic hub of the area. St. Mark's Church is situated just off Market Square, the center of Lewistown near other historic sites including the county courthouse, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the confluence of Kish Creek and the Juniata River.
The first Jubilee Center for Ministry in The Episcopal Church was founded at St. Mark's Church in 1983.
The parish exhibits a broad church style of worship. Its circa 1929 Cassavant pipe organ was recently restored and updated. The church building houses several excellent examples of American stained glass including works by Tiffany Studios and Lamb Studios. The windows are currently undergoing maintenance and restoration.
The current church building dates from 1898 and is the second building on the site. The church can seat approximately 175 people comfortably.
The orgiginal church was built in 1824 and was replaced by the current building having proved too small for the growing parish.
The current parish hall was built as a worship space for the parish during the reconstruction and is referred to in historcial documents as "The Chapel". It is a fully functional hall with a stage and adjoining kitchen facility with table seating for approximately 120 persons. The undercroft seats approcimately 75 people and is currently used as a martial arts studio for lessons offered by an expert parishioner.
The original rectory has been repurposed to house the Jubilee Ministry Center, a nursery, School rooms, a parish library/conference room and administrative offices.

Jubilee Ministry Center at St. Mark's
Ever since its founding in 1983, the parish's Jubilee Ministry Center has been noted for its trademark "intentional hospitality" and outreach to the poor and marginalized of the area. Mother Hubbard's Cupboard (part of the Jubilee Center) provides the principal food bank for Lewistown and Miflin County. It operates four days per week (Tuesday through Thursday, 9 AM- 12 Noon and Friday, 3-6 PM) and is staffed by volunteers from St. Mark's and other area churches. The Jubilee Center hosts a monthly free community dinner - Breaking Bread Together - that provides nutritious meals and heartfelt fellowship for over 100 people that gather. In addition, a newer ministry, "Folks of A Seasoned Age" provides opportunities for education, spiritual formation, and fellowship for people 50+ years old as a supplement to area services offered for the aging community. Parishioners' Outreach assists people in economic crisis by direct aid and referral services. Environmental Stewardship seeks to bring ecological issues into the home by helping people realize that many small efforts add up.
