St. Mary's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Mary's was established in 1947 by a group of devoted Episcopalians in Andalusia.  We continue to strive to fulfill Christ's vision of an open, welcoming community of faith. We encourage each person to use his or her own unique gifts as we come together to be Christ's body in the world.

Ministries

RICE AND BEANS MINISTRY

Food Pantries
Meal Programs

Beginning in September 2012, we opened our Rice and Beans Ministry, which is open on the third Saturday morning of each month, providing a hot breakfast and food to take home (two pounds of rice, two pounds of beans, a loaf of bread, and canned goods) to all who come.  No paperwork or identification is required.   Currently, we serve approximately 110 families each month with food to take home and serve almost 200 breakfasts.

LAUNDRY LOVE

Advocacy
Community Center

Our Laundry Love ministry is currently open once a month for two hours on the third Thursday of each month at the Soap Opera laundromat in Andalusia.  We provide money for up to two loads of laundry (washing/drying), as well as detergent and softener, to those who come. No identification or qualifying information will be collected. Volunteers are present each evening to welcome people and explain the ministry. We currently serve approximately fifteen families each month and are building a sense of community and friendship among all who participate in these Laundry Love evenings.

JO'S COMMUNITY DINNERS

Meal Programs

Jo's Community Dinners are offered for free to the community on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Assisted by volunteers from the community and with gifts from other churches and service organizations in Andalusia, we serve close to 1,000 residents in the area who are in need of a warm meal during the holidays. Meals can be picked up on site or delivered.

VACATION BIBLE CAMP

Children and Youth Ministries

We offer a Vacation Bible Camp each summer (usually in mid-June) for children in the community in grades K-5. Children participate in a variety of fun and formational activities, including games, Bible stories, and arts and crafts.
